Parc Vro Residential Home opened in 1979 and is a small family run business in the heart of Mawgan-in-Meneage, a tranquil village near the town of Helston. The home is a typically beautiful Cornish granite house that has charming views across open countryside.
We enable older people to continue living as independently as possible whilst receiving care and support consistent with their varying degrees of ability. We value each and every individual that comes to live at Parc Vro and welcome applications from all walks of life with many different needs. All our residents are treated with respect and dignity according to their individual needs and wishes.
Parc Vro is close by to several local attractions including Gweek Seal Sanctuary, Goonhilly Earth Station, Trelowarren Estate and the Helford River. There are several highly rated restaurants close by as well as two plant nurseries a tea room and local pub offering a B&B service.
Parc Vro is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has several award winning beaches close by. There is a bus stop opposite to the house where a bus service regularly goes into the town of Helston, local taxis are also available and accommodate wheelchairs.
Parc Vro is a care home offering care and support for up to 15 mixed gender residents over the age of 65 and / or with mental health concerns. Thirteen of the bedrooms at Parc Vro are for single occupancy the other bedroom is occupied by two residents. All accommodation complies with the National Minimum Standards and is equipped with wash basins and a call bell system for residents.
The main accommodation is based on two floors, with an elevator and a stair lift available for those who may sometimes have difficulty with stairs.
There is a large lounge with dividing doors and a separate dining room as well as four toilets and three bathrooms with either bath or shower facilities. There is a kitchen and preparation area as well as a separate laundry area. Parc Vro has a large and secure garden accessible from French doors in the lounge and dining room which residents can enjoy as and when they please.
All bedrooms are a minimum of 12 square meters of usable space, most of which are well above this size. The lounge measures approximately 70 square meters and the dining room approximately 30 square meters. The main bathroom measures 9 square meters and the other two bathrooms 6 square meters.
Parc Vro’s furnishings conform to the requirements of the Care Homes Act as well as those of the relevant regulatory bodies. Residents are encouraged to bring in their own furniture if they wish as long as it conforms with to minimum fire safety standards. All the bedrooms at Parc Vro are well heated and ventilated and are all fitted with radiator guards and thermostatic control valves.
Parc Vro has a variety of aids including an elevator, stair lift, bath, patient hoist and stand aid as well as slide sheets and manual handling belts. Grab rails are also fitted as required on request. A district nurse will assess each resident for any aids required and these will then be supplied to Parc Vro through Loan Equipment Services. Commodes are standard to each bedroom unless we are specifically told by a resident that they do not require one. Raised toilet seats and bed pans are also available if needed.
All rooms in Parc Vro are well maintained and cleaned daily or weekly and also, as required. A vacuum cleaner, fitted with a hospital standard Heppa air filter, carpet cleaner (extraction type) brushes, dusters, disinfectant and antibacterial cleaning agents are all used. There is on-going maintenance and upgrading of the property and equipment as needed.
Central heating at Parc Vro runs on oil and radiators can be individually controlled. In the event of a power failure, individual calor gas fires can be accessed at short notice. Windows on the upper floors are fitted with restrictors where required to conform statutory guidelines.
Parc Vro conforms to the statutory fire regulations required of a residential care home and is inspected on a regular basis. There are on-going upgrades to emergency lighting as well as regular maintenance and testing which is carried out by Safety Cornwall. All doors are fitted with easy access door closures and in the event of a fire, these doors will close automatically.
